What is the Purpose of the IJOS Board?
In January of 2001, the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections held meetings to discuss the Idaho Juvenile Offender System (IJOS) and how to maximize it's use in the counties. The Department realized that in order to meet the needs of both county and state agencies, the Department needs to understand how each agency tracks juvenile offender information and how they share data around the state. The IJOS Board would meet, discuss, and determine what the counties need and make decisions based on those needs to give direction for IJOS development.
How were the Board Members Chosen?
The Idaho Juvenile Offender System is much bigger than one database program on your computer. It is the way the entire state of Idaho tracks juvenile offender information. The Department understood that the majority of information about juvenile offenders in Idaho comes from non-Department agencies. Therefore the IJOS Board needed to be formed from external (non-Department) sources--a representative from each of Idaho's 7 districts was appointed to the IJOS Board. Each member was selected based on their job category, as well as their desire to work with IJOS. The overall goal for the IJOS Board was to create a group of members who would take ownership of IJOS and the data it contained.

The Office of the Attorney General provides legal representation to the State of Idaho. This representation is furnished to the State's agencies in the furtherance of the State's legal interests, not the personal interests of individual citizens.
These duties are detailed in Article 4, Sections 1, 17, and 18 of the Idaho Constitution and are further defined in Idaho Code §§ 67-1401 - 1409.
The State's chief legal officer, the Attorney General, meets his constitutional and statutory responsibilities through the efforts of seven divisions. Each division has a division chief who in turn reports directly to the Chief Deputy and the Attorney General.
